Model names are not enough

A new-car enquiry should identify more than the brand and model. The same model can have several trims, engines, drivetrains, battery versions, model years, and equipment packages. Names used in one market may not match names used in another.

For a useful China-side check, provide the target trim or the key specification that matters to your buyers. When the trim name is uncertain, describe the required equipment and ask the sourcing team to confirm the closest available configuration.

Information to confirm before comparing quotations

A trade buyer should confirm:

  • Exact model and trim or an agreed specification list
  • Engine, transmission, drivetrain, or battery version
  • Model year and relevant production or vehicle status
  • Exterior and interior color
  • Quantity and acceptable color mix
  • Available vehicle information and VIN timing
  • Export document context
  • Trade term and shipment scope

A quotation should be read together with these details. A price without a clear vehicle identity is not a stable basis for procurement.

Availability is a point-in-time check

New vehicles may be sourced through different supplier channels, and availability can change. A vehicle shown in a supplier message or online listing should not automatically be presented as reserved stock.

Green Gallop checks the China-side option against the buyer’s requirement and confirms the information available at that stage. If the buyer needs several units in matching specification, the quantity and color mix should be checked together rather than assumed from one sample vehicle.

Documents and export status

The buyer should ask which documents can be supplied for the proposed vehicle and transaction. Document availability can depend on the vehicle status, supplier, export arrangement, and shipment route.

The destination country may have separate requirements for import eligibility, conformity, registration, or age. Those destination rules must be checked locally before the buyer commits. China-side export coordination does not replace destination-country approval.

Inspection and confirmation

For new vehicles, confirmation material can include model and trim information, color, VIN when available, exterior and interior images, vehicle status, and specific equipment requested by the buyer.

When a feature is essential, request direct confirmation rather than relying on a generic catalogue image. Equipment can vary by trim and production batch, and translated model names can create errors.

Build the enquiry around resale or fleet use

Dealers should explain the specification their market expects. Fleet buyers should explain the operating use, passenger or cargo needs, road conditions, charging access for electric vehicles, and quantity schedule.

This information helps the sourcing team compare suitable configurations instead of simply returning the first vehicle with a matching model badge.

Next sourcing step

Send the model, required specification, quantity, destination, and timing. Green Gallop will review the China-side options, confirm available vehicle information, and organize the export and quotation questions for follow-up.
